Job Description:
Position Summary - The Inspector visits the municipalities
within PVSC's service area to review and approve applications for
sewer connections to ensure that these connections are legal and
the treatment works has the capacity to treat the discharges.

Education: High School or Vocational School Diploma is required.
Two (2) years of college or technical training in a related field,
is preferred. *Equivalent experience may be substituted for college
requirement.
Requirements:The ability to read, write, speak, and understand
English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. Must be
able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing,
demonstrate good organizational skills, and develop effective work
methods. Must have the ability to ascertain, observe, and record
significant facts, and prepare accurate and informative reports
containing findings and conclusions. Must be able to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with peers and
representatives of industrial and commercial users. Must understand
applicable Agency, Federal, and State rules, regulations and safety
practices, as well as have knowledge of various manufacturing
processes and the proper procedures for disposing of industrial
wastes. Knowledge of proper wastewater sampling techniques, flow
measurement, and pretreatment monitoring equipment is also
necessary.
Experience:
Connection Unit Inspector I - Minimum of three (3) years'
experience working as an Inspector, or three (3) years of
manufacturing or processing experience in an industrial chemical
manufacturing plant or wastewater treatment facility. Five years of
inspection, investigation, or related municipal experience may be
substituted for some of the requirements.
Connections Unit Inspector II - Two years as an Inspector, or two
years of manufacturing or processing experience in an industrial
chemical or wastewater plant. Three years of related inspection or
investigative experience may be substituted for the previously
listed experience requirements.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the
position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the
health and safety of oneself and others is maintained. To perform
the essential functions of this position the employee must be able
to: sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs.,
carry, reach, push, pull, use a keyboard, minor use of tools,
manual dexterity, work in confined spaces, visual acuity, hearing
and speaking.
Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated
with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and
will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
