Helfrich & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm, has an opportunity for an experienced New Jersey PIP Attorney to join our team located in Summit, NJ. While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, State Farm attorneys maintain their own caseload from inception to conclusion. The role involves case ownership of a file and participating in litigation events. We encourage a collaborative environment where our attorneys can assist each other and have access to support staff while maintaining ownership of their files. As a result of not being billed by the hour, our attorneys have the opportunity to strategize on trial and case development as it passes through litigation. Box 1010 Summit, NJ 07902Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Handles litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law DepartmentHandles a high-volume caseload of PIP matters in both Forthright Arbitration Forum and Superior CourtHandles a caseload from inception through discovery, motion practice, and trial in a fast-paced environment committed to quality of work. QualificationsPrevious Experience Required3 to 5 years of experience handling PIP cases from inception to conclusion preferredExperience with other defense litigation helpful, but not requiredKnowledge of Forthright arbitration rulesKey Skills RequiredExperience presenting and cross-examining lay and expert witnessesFile ownershipKnowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experienceEffective written and oral communication skills Ability to work in a team setting and directing support staff on administrative matters related to file handlingTechnology/Software Experience RequiredAbility to work efficiently with cases in electronic formWorking knowledge of a Case Management systemWorking Knowledge of a Document Storage systemEducation Requirements Including Licenses and CertificationsJ.D. from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School, with excellent academic credentials Must have an active law license to practice in New Jersey and a member in good standing with the State Bar of New Jersey.
