doing...The Verizon Global Infrastructure Network Security
organization is looking for a highly motivated and forward-thinking
principal engineer who can lead the implementation of VPN,
Extranet, and cloud-based frameworks, including Secure System
Edge(SSE) connectivity solutions. As a senior-level technical staff
member, you'll collaborate with system engineers, operations
personnel, vendor partners, and business associates to develop
innovative strategies that ensure the network remains efficient and
compatible with emerging technologies. The Network Security team's
core responsibilities include proactive implementation of design
initiatives, effective communication, and the development of
next-generation solutions.
- Collaborating with the planning and design team to develop and
implement intricate VPN technologies, adhering to security best
practices and design principles to guarantee secure
operations.
- Integrating future network security solutions leveraging
cloud-based frameworks such as Secure System Edge(SSE), CASB, SWG,
DLP, DEM, and future ZTNA protection policies and services.
- Performing routine security patches for operating systems and
applications on a consistent basis.
- Collaborating with support vendors to address critical or
zero-day vulnerabilities that have been identified and
disclosed.
- Ensuring compliance with all security and compliance
requirements established by VAST, CPNI, BIA, GSAM, VCSD, and Global
clearance teams.
- Conducting capacity planning analysis for the
infrastructure.
- Maintaining comprehensive technical knowledge of present and
future technologies.
- Regularly updating the management team on the project's
progress.
- Taking charge of your own technical and educational
development.What we're looking for...You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work
experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated
through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or
specialized training.
- Experience with Palo Alto/Cisco ASA/Firepower VPN equipment is
required.
- Network experience in defensive perimeter security and threat
prevention controls, SSE/SASE, firewall, proxy, access and
authentication, and malware protection.
- Experience in data networking, particularly in Layer 2/Layer 3
in a service provider network or large enterprise network
environment.
- Thorough understanding of VPN technologies.Even better if you
have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in network engineering, computer science, or
a related field is required.
- Associate-level network certification or higher is
required.
- Understanding of QoS and network security functions (firewalls,
VPN, IPS, etc.) is required.
- New technology development and testing experience is
required.
- Network operational troubleshooting and network
monitoring/analysis experience is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning new
technologies are required.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while managing
multiple high-priority projects is required.
- Ability to assess vendor solutions and utilize negotiation
skills to get the best ROI is required.
- Industry engagements and leadership roles related to future
networks are required.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, project management, and
communication skills are required.
- Ability to engage people in the vision and demonstrate the
meaning of the work for the bigger purpose is required.
- Proven ability to successfully manage complex
multi-organizational projects.
- Self-driven and highly motivated, with demonstrable leadership
skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under strict time
constraints, delivering accurate results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and
interpersonal abilities, including the capacity to present to
executives on conference calls.
- Meticulous and responsible, capable of working autonomously in

position is between $110,000.00 and $205,000.00 annually based on a
full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location
and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an
incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part
time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your
hours.
