About Our TeamThe Accountant Experiences team is focused on empowering accountants to seamlessly service their clients on Justworks. Accountants play a vital role in our ecosystem, and our team's success is defined by their enthusiasm for Justworks.Our team builds and supports all accountant-related functionality across Justworks' product offerings, including our accountant-specific product, the Advisor Dashboard. Since we touch all of Justworks' products, we need to deliver functionality that is performant, scalable, reusable, and adaptable. If we are doing our job well, accountants will encourage all of their clients to sign up for our services.About Our Ideal CandidateAs a backend engineer, you'll focus on building services that provide value to accountants across all of Justworks' products. Accountants are Justworks superusers, and you will be responsible for ensuring that their experience is seamless while delivering new features quickly. You will regularly engage with teams from across the business, technical and non-technical, to ensure that the solutions you design achieve the business' growth goals and are in line with the company's overall technical strategy.As a senior member of the team, engineers will look to you for guidance and mentorship. Engineers working with you should not only learn from your technical experience, but you should also be guiding them towards the most impactful work on initiatives that you lead.Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On

• Focus on ensuring that the systems we build are reliable and maintainable.
• Take an active role in project planning, including translating product requirements into deliverable pieces and prioritizing them in a manner that brings value to the business.
• Work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to bring new products and features to accounts on Justworks.
• Channel empathy for our internal stakeholders to create better user experiences with an eye towards making workflows easier and more efficient.
• Promote engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship.
• Enhance our testing and monitoring infrastructure.

      • 5+ years real-world experience working as a software engineer on production code, with a focus on backend and API development.
      • Thrives in a collaborative environment that fosters the exchange of diverse ideas and values the collective effort to achieve common outcomes.
      • Advanced knowledge of a server-side language such as Go, Ruby, Python, or Node.
      • The ability to distill simple solutions and architectures out of complicated problems and good judgment to select the right tools for the job.
      • Fluency in at least one SQL dialect and experience in relational database schema design.
      • Understanding of how to build resilient and maintainable systems in complicated business domains at scale.
      • Comfortable proactively identifying tasks and strategically establishing deadlines and milestones to drive the achievement of business objectives.Technologies Used
